1997 MPI, not run this system before due to the car being off the road for many years and not having the relevant parts supplied when I bought it as a project.

When the ignition is switched on the air bag light  starts flashing continuously. I have disconnected the battery and checked all the connections and found nothing wrong with any of them.

Has anyone had a similar problem.

Its reporting a fault somewhere. Usually the biggest culprit on these is the reluctor ring behind the steering wheel. Make sure the earth is good for the ECU under the rear seats and that non of the pre-tensioners have already gone off.

Hi,

I had some problems with the airbag in the past too.

Let's see if I can help you.

My light keeped on, not intermitent. Anyway, please check all the SRS components, airbag ecu, rotary coupler, front seatbelt pretensioners. First of all the connections checking if there are some shortcuts.

An ACR4 code reader would be helpfull, but they are pricey and difficult to have. I have one that I should share but I'm outside UK

I have some SRS spare parts too in good condition that should be helpfull, I buyed them when I had to repair my car.

And most important of all, PLEASE after touching anything from the SRS system, disconnect the battery and wait at least 30 minutes to discharge the remaining power in the airbag, it could explode accidentally causing serious damages.

Sorted out my airbag issue: the continuously flashing light was caused by the fuse for the air bag in the passenger compartment fuse box was blown, replaced the fuse and tested it a few times all working ok now.

Thanks for all of your suggestions
