Hello im getting my mini estate sanded back any panel repaired and resprayed to a different darker shade of blue, I want the color the same inside which they have agreed to do ! i have taken all the interior out , and stripped down the trim everwhere and they agreed to remove windows !

My questions are

1) should i put sound proofing down as it looks like its not on the floor  before respray?

2) the engine bay ,can this be sprayed successfully without removing the engine? i can remove all the side bits ect

3) anything else i need to do or think of before i pass it over ?

Cheers

in advance

Painting engine bay with engine in is not really a good idea. You will struggle with engine in and degreasing to allow paint to adhere properly will be hard, I wouldn't want to do it. As for sound deadening I would add afterwards

Painting the engine bay IS a good idea, but i would get the engine out, give it a good degrease and clean and strip out as much as you can, this will all save time at the bodyshop, saving you money. It will look so much better and if there is any rust there it can be dealt with!

definatly take the engine out. i spray cortinas and the like with the engine in situ, just strip out all wiring and ancillaries etc. you are left with a small engine in a big bay.

with a mini however you will have a small engine left in a small bay! you wont be able to spray and will struggle to manouvour the gun.

take the engine out, degrease and sand, prep and prime whilst you are doing the rest of the car.

to be honest i personaly would have the whole car sprayed, then if i want to sound deaden would do it afterwards. dyna matt is good stuff. just warm it and stick wherever you need it.

i guess you are getting the inside boot area done too?
