When buying wheel cleaning products for alloys or chrome wheels always make sure they contain no acids or alkalis as this will damage the precious laquers on the alloy, this can lead to pitting of the alloy and becomes harder and harder to clean each time, resulting in stronger products needed and your alloys completely ruined and having to be restored. Also try to remove brake dust as often as possible as this can also damage the alloy. i speak from experience of working at a car wash that uses alkali wheel wash normally and acid as an extra if offered always ask to be sponged with just water and the car wash products. (i used to work at ARC carwash formally IMO) if you do sponge yourself always use bathroom sponges with the white scourer as this won't scratch the surface of the alloy, all cleaners you use always try to opt for pH neutral products, i have seen the affects of acids and alkalis it looks terrible. whatever you do be carefull not to damage the alloy.
