Guessworks is working on a new reverse switch for the old boxes.

Believe the reverse switch fitted on the front of the gearbox is the same as some automatic inhibitor switches but with an added spacer or spacer rod.
Think we used to sell the ones from a Rover 3500 auto box when stocks were out. (same box as Granada Borg Warner)

Thanks Both,

Have tried a couple of overdrive switches that look the same but to no avail.

I wired in a toggle for now - hopefully guessworks will cobble up  (sorry - engineer) a replacement - none of the main suppliers can source so may be worth his time if he does.

I would be in the queue for one

He’s already done it, but may not have them for sale just yet

I’m surprised he’s priced them quite so high

Ordered  :proud:

ford capri ones  are £30  -  BMC ones about a tenner,

but given the unavailability (till now ) of these,  and I think he has to fettle them to make them work ...Im happy with the price if it keeps a specialist supplier boyant financially .

I didn't fancy inserting something into my gearbox (ouch !!!)  like an overdrive switch that I had "cobbled up"  to make work - I'm sure John wouldn't sell anything sub standard.

Locally x2 old school independent motor factors have closed ... because we all (inc me) rely a lot on t'internet and Halfords for parts -

You really miss the classic car/independent motor factor specialists when they are gone.
