Hi,

For those that don't know anything about this it's basically a Bluetooth dongle that plugs into the cars obd diagnostic port, the one by the steering column.

You then use the app on your phone or tablet and it can read and erase fault codes.

I've used it on BMWs and Vauxhalls.

Any one tried it on a Mini?

***If you're near Walsall, West Midlands I've got it set up but no MPI to plug it into if you'd like to try it out, for free!***

Cheers  :proud:

I don't think Mems was OBD compliant.

Often thought there'd be a market for something, even if it read the sensors in tandem - wouldn't help with resets and readings logs tho'.

Hi,

I thought the rules were if it had the plug it had to comply to the obd standard?

There's a bare minimum standard for information to be available at the port for access by a code reader, this is below the amount available with dealer level equipment.

The torque pro app clears codes and logs with gps too.

Cheers  :proud:

There is, but Mems predates that regulation AFAIK

Hi,

You could be right, this is why I've requested a test subject.

Failing that anyone willing to invest £10 to see if it does work...

Cheers  :proud:

If no other OBD reader works; why would this one work?

Well the app is for OBD standard vehicles. Rover MEMS is not OBD. The method of transmitting the data is fairly irrelevant. The software is the key.

MEMS is not OBD compliment. I think the Honda engines Rover used in their cars around that time were though, which are not MEMS.

PS

I have a Bluetooth OBDII dongle and it works great on OBD II vehicles. In fact, we broke down on the island of Jersey on the day of our return in a Vauxhall Insignia, engine wouldn’t rev, produced no power and the temp gauge was of scale high.

Pulled out the dongle plugged it in opened the app on the Samsung tablet and straight away it gave a fault code. Not my car so with no cares reset the code )no idea what it was for) and the engine ran faultlessly all the way home. Car went back and I never told them ?

I use a cheap dongle off eBay (£2.30 odd) which was shipped from Hong Kong and I have torque pro and piston which work great! Only had 2 cars which it didn't work on but have used it on loads, always keep it in my car
