If that is a reference to the tragic accident in Clocaenog Forest it seems, from what I have learned that the motorcyclist was doing around 100 mph on a twisty B-road and the rally car was simply crossing the road and the motorcyclist was un-sighted when the car driver looked.
It will probably all go away as a rally incident after the inquest.

If I had a mortgage I'd have bet on that being the case. What annoyed me was the way it was reported with both the Police & that politician planting the belief in the uneducated public's mind that it was the rally crew 'to blame' as they were 'taking part in a rally on public roads'...

 

If it was the case it was the rider's fault I really hope it doesn't 'go away as a rally incident', but the blame is properly apportioned and the rally crew (& rally) completely exonorated.

I'm meeting some senior MSA people later today and I'll see what the current situation is.

Just got back and the general consensus is that until there has been an inquest not much can be done. However, it seems likely that the motorcyclist was riding at a very fast speed and if this is evidenced at the inquest, the MSA publicity machine will make that known to the general media.

Quick question - can the gaps at the rear quarter panels be filled with expanding foam or something that is fireproof?

You need a fireproof filler material for the gaps each side of the rear seat back.
Glass Reinforced Plastic 'hole bridge' is what I have used with no problems. It can be finished off with seam-sealer to make it look better.
