It's doddle, if you have a foot long spanner, and a 28 lb spring balance.

This is a safety-critical attachment. The very best thing to do is to change the Nyloc nut for a castellated nut. Then do a 'dry' assembly off the car using the large washer followed by the nuy. Do the nut up until the washer is hard against the shoulder and drill the tie-rod for a split pin through the castellated nut.
With the nut 'nipped-up' when installed and certain that the washer is seated properly, fit a split pin and you are 100% safe.
Many people don't realise that Nyloc nuts are 'once use only' and should not be re-fitted to any safety-critical area.

I don't use Nylocs here, but I fit a Lock Nut.
Having said that, I have my reasons for this, though it's not what I'd recommend in a blanket manner.
If Adjustable Bars are being fitted, I feel a 'Conloc' Nut would be the best choice here.
and drill the tie-rod for a split pin through the castellated nut..
I'm not sure if they were ever fitted in the UK, however, for a few years on our local assembly, the very ends were drilled and an R clip or Split Pin (depending on how they felt on the day!) was fitted, not so much as a lock for the nut, but to prevent it from coming right off if it came loose.

I have had a Nyloc nut come loose on a rally car. Fortunately it didn't come right of. It was not my car and the nut had been re-used several times, the owner later admitted.

Just checked Mini sport. If it's the correct one I've searched it's £0.19 each nut - 1/4 UNF Nylon Nut.

19P !
Almost four shillings. That is (was) 20 Players Senior Service Cigarettes.
P.S. 1/4" nylon nut is what holds the number plate in place.
