Happy Monday Forum Guru's.

The below photos of my 2000 Mini Mpi Cooper Sport are in hope of someone confirming the type of coolant that I need!

Am I right in saying that this is the OAT Type?

If so does what type and where from? pre mixed or concentrate? where is the ratio listed?

All the above is because my car has been running really hot recently, but not really showing hot on any gauges. engine bay temp has been crazy warm after trips, so just wanted to do the basics first. Drain, flush, new coolant, new expansion tank cap and maybe new hoses (probably more cosmetic than an actual requirement!)

Someone said that it might be a head gasket, someone else said it might be the thermostat, but I wont be able to do those jobs on my own due to lack of skills! but am happy to have some feedback.

So, thoughts please, happy to listen to all advice.

Cheers

Ed

Loads of info about this, carry out a quick search, should give you enough bedtime reading.

Agreed, I don't like the stuff. It's expensive, finds every leak possible and is just a pain in general

I live in Kuwait country you can google it and see our weather which the temperature is very severe ranging from 45 to 50 degrees Celsius and do not bear the engines so that the temperature is higher than usual as you have a nice weather and cool so I have experience in the acquisition of water Radiator fit for all seasons and gives good results. if your car from Type Mini Classic carburetor ans SPI Preferably to be green coolant. And MPI cars to use red or orange or pink coolant I have used Evans after gave me the best results there is no pressure of air and there is no seed water and did not raise the temperature of the car quickly.
It is true that it is expensive but in return you will feel comfortable and calm and you drive the car.

I did a search for the Coolants
It turns out that the green for classic cars that have a brass radiator
The red is now used for all cars and is suitable for the aluminum radiator and gives long distances to be replaced

See the attachment

Stick with your OAT coolant as previously suggested.

Switching to another coolant, like Evans waterless, isn't easy as you need to fully flush the system and make sure no water is left (easier said than done!). If you're not having issues with your current type of coolant, then don't bother changing.
