Hello

I start this topic to find all possible informations about Authi Mini's. There was an other topic also where discussed but I hope this title will attract more people here :) If everything goes as planned the car will be mine in a week. The most likely this is an Authi Mini 1000 Deluxe or LS which exported to Switzerland. I'd like to collect parts to make it as genuine as possible, so my request that if some of you has any data or knowledge which is not found on web please share with me. The best is you have a similar Mini :)

The previous topic is as below, the first comment for the Authi is #28. :

You can find some detailed picture about the car in my gallery :

This Authi Mini pictured below (spotted in Spain by a member of TMF on holiday in 2017) has driveshafts with outer Hardy Spicer joints, this was a unique original feature explained below.....

More info on the Spanish built Authi Minis and their differences here:-

The Costa Mini....

"As well as ADO16s, Authi also produced their version of the Mini for local consumption. As with its larger brother, the aim was to achieve 100 per cent local content, and as a result, the Minis that rolled out of Pamplona were very interesting indeed. The easy route to component supply in these transplant operations is to import as many of these items as possible from the UK, but in the case of Authi, this avenue was not open to them, thanks to the Spanish government’s insistence on full local content. As a result, components such as SU carburettors, Lucas lights and Smiths instruments were all assembled under licence in a new factory at Manresa, north of Barcelona. Other items that would ordinarily have been supplied by component suppliers in the UK, were blueprinted by BMC and produced in Spain.
Even the A-series engines used by Authi were produced locally, at a factory at Los Conrales near Santander. Interestingly, one feature unique to the Authi-produced cars was the driveshaft design – whereas the standard Mini/1100 arrangement of Rzeppa CV (constant velocity) joints was used world-wide, the Spanish version had to make do with a more simple double UJ (universal joint) arrangement. This was because there were no suitable Spanish manufacturers of CV joints at the time… Another unque-to-Authi feature was the casting code: NMQ."

Yes I know about the drivesahft. If you look for the parts catalog you'll see that design, see the attachment. But the part number shows a CV joint.

Anyway, in Spain there are lot's of simple double UJ's for sale

Question that if these will fit to my drive flange and diff shaft.

Congratulations on the find, they´re unusual variants for sure. It looks like the seats aren´t unlike Innocenti seats. If the parts are anything like Inno parts I wish you lots of luck and deep pockets! Your best bet is familiarising yourself with the special Authi parts and hope to find people selling things where they don´t know what they have! Most importantly it helps you avoid people who think they have something special and will charge the world for what´s actually a regular BMC part.

Nice unusual Mini, what are your plans for it, restoration or use it as it is?

At the moment it has to pass MOT, but I have too renew the brakes first.

In the long run the Mini will be renewed to its original shape, as possible.

There was an article on an Authi resto in Mini World Feb 2016. It mentions that the Authi used same components as Fiat Panda which was also being made under license. If you PM your address I will post it to you.

The Seat Panda (licensed Fiat) started production in Spain in 1980, while Authi ceased production in 1975, so there must be an error there

That is an early cylinder for a small bore engine. An Authi head would normally have NMQ on it somewhere.

I cleaned the engine a little, it seems that it is the original cylinder head. It has the same color as the block.

Also, there some numbers on the back side of the block. I'll try to take a photo about it.

And this is how it starts and run :)

Hello again

Maybe you are interested in the process. Unfortunately the car is still not ready for he road. In the last weeks I inspected the brake, steering, suspension and I have to say I found faults everywhere. You can see some example on the attached pictures
