Hi just a quick introduction from a newbie who's just bought a mini.

 

Probably a mid life crisis but I've got two teenage lads, the eldest has just passed his test and got a car which means it's no longer Dad's Taxi. This has meant I finally had the opportunity to sell the daily runabout and buy a mini. In my college days I used to co-drive/navigate in a 1275GT Clubman so it's a chance to have a bit of driving fun again.

 

I've been looking for a suitable one for a few months and with a limited budget it was hard to find something suitable that ticked all the right boxes. I also ride a motorbike and I'm close enough to cycle to work so whilst I intend to use it on a weekly basis I'm lucky to have alternative transport if something needs fixing. In looking around there were some right basket cases that were advertised as in good condition. The online MOT history check has been invaluable so I hope I have found a decent car for the price.

 

 

I'm not deluding myself I know the car needs a little care and attention so I will be asking plenty of questions and seeking help to get it right. This one ticked the boxes for me - the only issue for me was it was for sale up near Perth. So it was 5hrs on the train from Preston to Perth and then first drive was the 4hrs back to Preston!

 

So it's a 1.3Spi Cooper (93) with a few non-standard modifications which I'm slowly working though to see what the previous owners have done to it. I'll stop now as I did say it was a quick introduction!

Im in Wigan, don't get round Preston much these days since changing jobs but used to frequent the place often with deliveries etc...

 

The Cooper you've bought, is a very nice example.

Keep an eye on the 'North West Monthly Mini Meet' thread - might be one or two meets of interest to you. The one tomorrow night is in the Lydiate area. Might be a tad too far?

Cheers - it's certainly put a smile on my face! Although like anything of this vintage with a dozen previous orders I'm still trying to work out what's been done to it.

Thanks I have been watching the thread. The distance isn't too far for travelling - any attendance is more likely to be based on timing. I keep fairly busy with a few other interests and 2 teenage kids. If there's a local meeting when I'm free then I'll probably try to get down to it.
