Morning All!

I'm currently looking at a van which originally came from Northern Ireland.

It has it's initial NI log book & it's NI registration plates.

It hasn't been on the road for a number of years.

Has now been restored & is over here.

Can anyone advise on any pitfalls with NI cars or are they the same as a GB registered one?

Thanks

No pitfalls, same as a mainland car in everyway.

Can retain its NI plates (which are ageless)

Northern Ireland is part of the UK so obviously there's not pitfalls. We are British too  ;D

I've brought cars the other way and again no issues

Very strange, considering the UK’s full name is the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Up until a few years ago vehicle licensing here in Northern Ireland was handled separately to dva at Swansea, vehicles moving to Northern Ireland would be exported from GB and then registered over here with the DVLNI. When this office closed all records were transferred to Swansea.

No issues with moving vehicles between Northern Ireland and GB, good luck with your new purchase.

I know, they made a right mess of it all, it had a change of owner, change of taxation class (was a mobility car), mainland plate swap from the ni one. We lost a month's tax somewhere too.

Always happens if you want to avoid being off road for 10 days whilst Swansea get the paperwork done.

No we lost another full month on top of that one too! I didn't notice for ages and couldn't be bothered to try and chase it.
