I'm a professional detailer/valeter based in Yorkshire, specialising in paint correction and restoration. Former old school Mini owner, haven't got one at the moment though.
More than happy to answer any questions or queries regarding detailing, valeting and paint correction.
Kind regards.
Darren.

it's annoying isn't it jammy!.... bang the carpets against a wall. and don't wear shoes with huge grips that pick up grit.
Welcome welcome!
I have another question....can you paint a headlining and if so what paint do you use?

Vinyl paint. Halfords.
Second that, or any good motor factor.
Carpet wise, it's a tricky one!
The best advice I could give you is to aggitate the carpet as much as you can before hoovering, try to loosen up the grit etc. as much as you can. Use a stong bristled brush and briskly brush the carpet first. Also, you'll find many of the hoovers a pro will use will be much more powerful than a home hoover. I use a Numatic industrial one and it sucks up just about everything. However, if it makes you feel any better, even we don't always get it all out!

I used matt black emulsionWelcome welcome!

To be fair, it had been painted in a nasty gloss black colour, so the paint stuck to it pretty well. No-one believes me when I tell em I painted my headlining with emulsion

Where abouts in Yorkshire are you Flatcap?
I'm based in Barnsley, South Yorkshire but I do travel most weeks to carry out work. I did a job in Dagenham two weeks ago and I've been to Liverpool this week. If you would like any further information please feel free to PM me as my website is currently under re-developement.
Kind regards.

didn't it crack?!
Nope, it looks great just need to paint a patch at the back that had had a duct tape repair job on it, and it will look perfect. Hearing all the horror stories about doing a headliner, I thought what have i got to lose? worked out great!
