Hi I'm having a problem with the aux fan on a 96 spi.could anybody tell me what colour wires go to the sensor on the bottom of the Rad?.I tried what I thought they were to try and get the fan going by bridging them but this blew fuse no 3.to be honest I'm a bit lost with it.

Hi,

Should be light green with a black stripe and a plain black.

Fan has a black with a green stripe and again a plain black.

Wiring diagrams are available on this very forum  :proud:

Cheers  :proud:

Hi thanks alot bat.....I'm not the best at these wiring diagrams.....would you have any idea as when I put the light green black stripe together with the black it just blows the fuse.much appreciated.I thought this would start the fan...

Hi,

Seized fan would be my first guess. Try unplugging it then bridge the switch wires.

If it blows the fuse then, probably a short in the wiring.

Thanks I've had a look today and found the fan to be working...I put power straight to the fan plug and it worked.think I'll be placing a manual switch on to it.I think this would be easier to do than trying to find the short in the loom...thanks again.....for my next question......how do you set the stepper and throttle cable...I've seen various videos and read a few threads but just want to double check and get it right.much appreciated.

Theres a basic guide to setting the steeper motor by turning on ignition and pumping throttle pedal 10 times then switching off ignition, some say not to use throttle pedal but go direct to the motor itself with same procedure of opening and closing 10 times...

Urban myth - this doesn’t set anything I do wish people wouldn’t repeat this.
To set up stepper motor you need Testbook, T4, Sykes Pickavant ACR plus Rover V3 pod or Crypton ACT systems.
Cable set with lost motion linkage gaps - see Haynes Manual or similar
