I can't think of any good reason to use 5.1 in a Mini. 

i can, you have it in the garage as you use it in your other cars.

presumably because they may have been assembled with a glycol based fluid in the factory.

 

That and I think the rubber they use is not compatible with silicone fluids 'eats the seals...'.
