I have the minispares primary gear oil seal tool.

One to slide the new seal over the gears and one to push the primary gear back in place by using the big center bolt.

But how can i remove the primary gear?

If you are replacing it, the oil seal doesn't need a special tool to remove it;  Just dig the oil seal out, carefully, with a thin screwdriver hammered between it and the casting.

Having removed the oil seal, remove the "C" washer and the primary gear can be with-drawn.

I made my own, pretty easy if you have access to a welder, grinder, drill and a few other bit's.

so dad got some 65mm ID tube cut it up and made the bolt end for it out of 6mm plate and the other a U shape with a ~48mm ID to match the gear groove and I welded together and drilled and tapped it M12. which got us something similar to the standard tool, used an old main bolt and drilled it a little to centre the tool bolt. and gave it a lick of paint

I'll just add to this be very very careful if removing it this or by similar methods (self tapper etc) as it's not easy to work in there, access is limited and so it's very easy to damage other parts.

I removed the final gear with a super large screwdriver... installation with the special tool. no oil leaks anymore from there. :-)
