To others who have fitted a RH fuel tank, have you riveted or welded in the support brackets?

Welded.
Well, actually I used Braze because it was a rally car on forest stages.

When I managed to find one, I removed the L/H tank, measured everything up and made mirrored image R/H mountings from TEAK, and 'glassed' them in. Been in for over 15 years now, no probs.................It's a Minus

Is there a safety issue here?
In the event of a collision or damage being sustained in the area of the fuel tank, are welded in brackets more likely to remain in place than riveted and hence hold the tank more securely?
Can anyone tell me how they were fitted in the works Mini's?

When the right hand tank was first fitted to S types it was an optional extra and all the fixings were bolted or riveted in place - the strap top bracket was always bolted in.

Same applied to boot board brackets
Anyone know when they started welding them in ?
