Hey guys,

I'd like to get a new dashboard for my 2000 cooper.

As you may or may not know; choices for MPI models are very limited.

So I was wondering if anyone had an experience with Dashofcolour dashboards?

I want to get one of these because they will put all wholes I want for the MPI; my only concern is that they leave it to you to cover it.  I want to go for a kind of glossy light grey and think that trying to paint MDF myself would be hard to achieve a good finish.

They do offer acrylic covers to go with the dashboards but have no images on the site so have no idea what to expect if I bought one.

If anyone has any good ideas where else i could look for a dash or any images of a dashofcolour dashboard they bought and covered it would be good to hear from you.

well the previous owner of the car replaced the dash but with an spi dashboard rather than the MPI so the speed doesnt sit flush like it should because its missing a whole for the 3rd (engine management light) which really annoys me.  and its doesnt have the adjustable headlight switch. otherwise it would actually be a really nice Dashboard.  besides that, I would like to do my interior with grey (hence the glossy grey).

also playing with the idea of loosing the 3 clocks in the center and installing a 2din stereo with apple car play (which the dashofcolour dashboards offer)

I got my piano black MPI dashboard from ebay (proper wood rather than MDF). They're £180, and I think they also have the veneer wood, aluminium and carbon effectoptions. Very pleased with mine. Existing dials all fitted perfectly and it's only had a trial fit in the car, but looks to be a good fit.

There's a pic on my project thread (link in my footer). Not a great pic all the same! I'll try and find my ebay receipt to see who the seller was. It's definitely not MDF as it has grained wood on the back.

Chris I read through your amazing mini build and your show wins.  How did you fit the dash to stay in place, was that in your project thread, I don't remember seeing it.  Also how did you fit the gear shift boot ?  I am getting prepped to do a center console and then move on to the dash, any detailed pics and links would be a big help.

Thanks mate! Hopefully these photos will explain how I did it. I first made some brackets which hook behind the top and bottom dash rails, and then used grille buttons to fix the dash in place.

That is fricking awesome,

unfortunately, I doubt i'd have the time or ability to replicate something as good as that.
