I see a lot of these on my local auction site - the little kit runs about 27 000 JPY anyone tried one ?

Here's a youtube vid showing the difference in spark boost - pretty impresive

and installed in a mini

Having had an NGK plug melt with electronic ignition toe down on a lean mixture I would question how well it would be on plugs

Certainly looks like lightening

The in car video is pointless to us in the UK....I know a few words of Japanese which does not help

...nebari uro suiban suiseki and kanichiwa non any use for cars hahah... even bonsai size

Any tests or figures to back any claims ?

I did a little looking around and looks like these have been around a while already,

the in car vid - I think the guy drives up the hill at 2000 rpm and then checks his time then he does it again with the booster deconnected, not very scientific but he was faster with the booster !  It was just to show that some people have got it fitted

I have seen home made ones and people are claimng better mpg and smoother running - if some cash came my way (which looks unlikely) I would be ready to try one out.  The same guy who makes the booster also makes a Plasma coil for the mini - the name alone sounds fast imo !

Nice bit of reading here

This works on a very simple principal of L-C Resonance.

It will really punch up the volts, no risk there, but in doing so, you can be almost guaranteed HT Lead, Distributor Cap and Rotor Button issues.

You can read up on L-C Resonance here;-

Interesting but too high tech for my brain and abusing the HT system is not worth it for a small and dubious gain.

A set of S points and a high quality condensor will do.

I have done quite a bit of research in sparkplugs etc.

These do work, to an extent. But erode plugs and other components so fast that it gets useless, although another proof that we can gain power/torque and driveability by providing a better way of igniting our mixture.
I have some test results somwhere, I should put everything on a site one day to share it with everyone. Brisk multisparks are still my favorite plug for those of you who haven't seen me repeating this for the 10th time.. ;-)

Brisk isn't a multiple ground plug though.

Keeping obstacles to flame development to a minimum is one of the performance factors, as mentioned

@dusky, so would you try the brisk plug WITH the plasma booster ?

I would not. It would eat those plugs alive, and at +- 10£ a pop it costs quite a bit.
Mind, it would give very intresting results. I'm still trying to get some free samples of them to broaden my research.. :)

you only need enough to light the mixture properly, so unless your running alcohol or somthing then theres not a lot of point.

Not really true.
Imagine a room full of kindle. What would burn it the fastest? Light it with 1 match, 1 blow torch, or 3 blow torches close to eachother?

Not really an applicable analogy as solids need to undergo pyrolysis to alow combustion.
