A bit of luck, my partner found a mint Innocenti grill. There's a guy in Croatia that seems to have stocks of Inno parts he's selling if anyone needs something send me a PM and I'll share his contact info.

That's spectacular! Is that Domagoj you bought that off? Keep up the good work :)

That's the guy!

I've spent the last few days stripping down the various suspension parts and sending off bits to the powder coater, I think I will have a pretty substantial bill there when he's done, but the stuff comes back looking absolutely mint.

I have one broken bolt in the outer subframe bracket, I drilled it thru so I can get an easy out in it as there was noting left to get a pair of mole grips on, then heated it bright cherry red but no joy getting it out yet

Today I spent a lot of time cleaning parts to send to be blasted and coated, but I had one small victory....one of the 8 bolts that hold the outer trailing arm brackets to the subframe broke off, there was nothing left of it to get a set of mole grips on so I thought I would drill it out then use an easy out to remove it - after I'd used the torch on it to break rust's grip on it. However that just didn't work, but I noticed a small bit sticking out of the inside of the captive nut, and I was able to get a pair of sharp nosed vice grips on it - and it moved. After a lot of time turning it a tiny bit at a time it was free. I ran a tap thru the captive nut and the threads came up clean. Result! as Edd would say.... :proud:

I hope that you thanked "The Holy Spirit" for your good fortune,

I have never understood why people are so swift to curse things that are not going well.  Do they really think that cursing it will make it go better?

Mr. Spock would not find that "logical" ,  Surely it would be better to bless it before starting and give thanks when all has gone well.

I didn't mention any cursing......and not everyone believes in "holy spirits"....I'm sure Spock doesn't, it's not logical.  :proud:

To each their own as they say...…

So, back to the car and shop for me.

So, I got a LOAD of parts in yesterday!

I'm still in the scraping and cleaning mode, once that's all done and parts are back from the coaters I can start putting it all back together.....

Picked up the gas tanks today, had them cleaned and coated inside as they had sat for decades with old nasty gas in them. Meanwhile my partner has scored a correct set of Altissimo rear lenses and a Hellbore steering wheel and hub. We have pretty much everything we need now to build the car - now there's just a shedload of work to be done!

Meanwhile we had 6" to a foot of snow yesterday, glad I don't have to be anywhere for work!

Got the first bunch of parts back from the coaters and they look terrific. Still waiting for some bits and bobs from MiniSpares to start assembly.

They have done a really good job, I would love to follow this example and powder coat all the suspension components.

This looks like a great project!

Can you PM me contact details for the chap with the Innocenti grills and let me know roughly what he's charging?

After one, though not sure I can justify the likely price.

Cheers.

The stuff comes back  absolutely mint, I think if I were to do it again I'd go with shiny instead of matte finish. I'm doing a resto for a friend's Moke too and he had his done shiny, I really like the finish....it's very smooth and slick.

PM sent Paul

The Moke stuff in the pic, yes they got the color wrong on the subframes, but he's OK with it...the tie bars are being replaced with new adjustable ones.

A few weeks ago I sent the fuel sender off to a specialist in New York who called me today to say he had it done, it reads correctly and even the low fuel warning light part works.... considering just how badly encrusted with rust and varnish it was I'll be excited to see how he did. It was $pendy but there are no correct fuel senders that I can find so you do what you have too I guess.

I've read that the Jaeger benzina gauge is not compatible with the Mini senders available, plus they don't have the low fuel warning light circuit - I think. At any rate, it's done. When I get it back I'll post a pic of it, before and after. I now have the fuel system all done, the pump survived and still works, the tanks are cleaned and coated, and with the sender I can put it all back together.

I also got the Monza gas caps to install. I know they didn't have them from new but like the Cromadora wheels and Abarth steering wheel, I consider it a period accessory.

The left tank is interesting, it's the large 9 gallon (7.5 Imperial) tank but it has the screwed on sender instead of the one with the twist in retaining ring. Since it also has the right side 5 gallon tank, I can do a LONG trip without refueling!

Front subframe came back from the coaters - looks mint. I placed an order last Sunday with MiniSpares - normally I have the parts in 3-4 days but I had not even gotten a shipping notice yet, so I sent them a note.... turns out their Black-Cyber-Sunday whatever sale was pretty successful and they were inundated with orders, so it got delayed a bit. Till I get some of those bits and bobs I'm stuck for now. No worries tho, I still have lots to do....
