well it all depends on the grade of steel used.

but the threads need lubricating or they can gall. and in some places any lubricant on a wheel retaining thread is not permitted.

stainless steel is often nowhere the correct strength needed in these applications.

and it can also rust.

as a side effect the studs will corrode faster than is a normal steel nut was used.

now don't get me wrong there are suitable stainless steels out there but they tend to be expensive.

as with most things it come down to the actual spec of the material used and not the type of material. and knowing what spec you need and then getting that info from the seller and then actually believing the seller....

KAD don't have an issue with stainless nuts, and neither do I and many others

Stainless is better than the cheap crappy bar turned toffee dusted in sparkly rubbish offerings, all day any day

Yes the bolts on the split rims are stainless too

Why ?  because the anodized bolts were deteriorating

Buying new ones as current ones have been over tightened and knackered the threads! Not too bothered about the look!

means nothing without knowing the material grade. and they are not nuts.  can not see any stainless wheel nuts on KADs pages.

stainless is on of the most overrated materials out there. and without knowing what spec it is it should not be used in areas that require a high tensile load.

would you use a stainless steel head nut? with a tensile strength that is less than a third of a suitable head nut? dont think so. but there are people selling such crap out there.

Stainless...

Weather you call em bolts, nuts or sleeve nuts they are still tightened up and hold the wheels on

Could  KAD  risk selling them if they were toffee ?
