I love how it's basically the inverse story of BL.

They wanted a car, they designed a car, they built a car and then sold the car.

Aware they didn't have the in-house experience to fully design everything they simply bought in alot of important stuff to streamline the process.

That meant they didn't rely on some poorly re-hashed designs of worn out, decades old crap.

A remarkable man. More here
https://www.aronline...eorge-turnbull/
I worked for his younger brother John, who was Chief Engineer at Longbridge. Very talented family.
George was held in great respect in the Industry. Not well recorded is his personal relationship with Toyoda of Toyota who George first met when he joined Hyundai. Later when George was MD of Inchcape who imported Toyota cars into UK George worked with Toyota to establish their manufacturing plant in Derby.
At the end of his life George had an incurable brain tumour and just before he died Toyoda came to UK and visited George, sitting at his bedside. So great was the friendship and respect between the two.
