Hi,

I am embarking on a project to return my 1275GT back to original specification.

Unfortunately like many mini's it no longer has its original engine but a A+ from a metro.

How can I find out which original 1275 type engine my car would have had? 12H379, 12H380, 389 ..... etc?

I have the original logbook but frustratingly only the engine number digits were written.

It was registered May 1976 and obviously I know the chassis number and commissioning number.

Ideas welcome.

Cheers

Simon

I think 76 was the change over year. Twin handbrake cables to single, single bolt subframe, seats with floor locks. Might be useful if you can tell us which of these yours has.

Assuming it didn't sit in the showroom for too long

I would expect it to be a 12H706     alternator, negative earth, mechanical fuel pump and rod change gearbox
