I have a 1990 Mini with a 2 clock nacelle. I am installing a after market dash. My problem is that i have done what the Haynes manual said to do to no avail by pulling on it. Some forums have said that there are 4 bolts in on the firewall under the bonnet. I found 4 nuts on the firewall behind the brake booster. It's RHD. With the kind of luck i have, if i remove these, something will fall down somewhere and i'll never see it again. Any help from somebody who has done this before will be much appreciated. Thanks guys.

Hi Sparkymae,

It sounds like you've found the four bolts.

from inside the car, you'll see the two metal brackets holding the clocks in place. They are held on by the four bolts on the firewall inside the engine bay behind the brake servo.

If you're unsure, loosen the four bolts you've found (don't undo them completely) and see if the brackets move. If the brackets are loose, undo the bolts completely and hey presto, the brackets will come off. I'd suggest undo the screws holding the clocks to the bracket first though.

Thanks for the info. How do i get to the screws holding the clocks on. Do you somehow pull the plastic housing off the clocks first? :)

The plastic cowling is just held on by clips. Pull it square off and the screws are on the side of the brackets screwed into the clock binnacle..

From memory, there are two vertical clips, one either side at the bottom and two clips up top.
