I often think we classic Mini owners don't know how lucky we are to have such a choice of body parts.
Recently I was looking at parts for a Cortina GT Mk.1. The availability is poor and the prices horrendous.
Thats so true, I'm doing another Jag MK2 and the panels prices can be eye watering and the fit is dreadful. A full front wing is £2500 and just the front nose code is a round £450.
I wanted a pair of chassis rails and that was nearly £1000 so i'm making my own.
With door skins you only get the bottom 3/4 so you have to join it in the middle.
An outer sill is around £170.
The worst one for me is the baffle panel here https://www.sngbarra...d-e7bd34b8567c it cost a fortune, fits badly and you can hardly see it tucked under the wing when its finished. Its also one of the first panels to go.
I'm buy as much as I can from e-bay (people with failed projects) and at shows.
Why you consider the work involved and the panel costs for a car worth less than 20K finished (this ones only the 2.4) I would be better off financially doing a mini pickup!
