Hi,

Doing a 998 auto to 998 manual conversion and am collecting all the parts.

I have an engine etc and the rod gearchange linkage.

How do I know that the rod length is correct?

I can't be sure what type of rod change I have -

original length?

1/2 inch longer from when the 1275 was moved forward?

Metro rod change? (is a metro one any different?)

Obvious way is to measure the steady rod and gear select rod, but can anyone tell me the lengths they should be?

Or - is there an easier way to identify?

Cheers

Ok thanks Nick.

It has the mini mounting bracket so that's good.

How can I tell if it's a regular length or the mpi longer one?

It has the round gear knob with the round plastic insert so my hunch is it's older but I'd like to be certain before I start.

It's my first project of this kind so I'm a bit unsure about lots of things.

The steady rod for the later model subframe (1/2" forward)had a slot on one side and a hole on the other and the earlier one had 2 holes. The thread below has dimension on it too.
