I know of a few running a 48dco weber successfully. Another mate is working on a 55dco but thats a working progress. Anything can work if you put the time in I believe.

Ive had a pair of 52mm IDAs in the past .. pre Turbo days
And I’ve machined out 40mm Dellorto carbs as far as 45mm but it’s not straightforward ... unfortunately
When you open the throat in a 40mm casting you also machine off the progression circuit end (the bit with the holes in)
I had to tap the now completely open ended “tube” I had just created and machine quite complicated cross drilled and face drilled threaded brass plugs then mill the bores again with the plugs fitted this time , to recreate the progression circuit.

Setting the carbs up in the mill and making the precise cut for the correct fit of the butterflies was very time consuming and a few got scrapped on the way!
Although there was a plentiful supply of 40mm carbs and 45mm s were much less common and in demand I decided this conversion was too much hassle .. and required a good few parts replaced (although Dellorto spindles are common to all sizes of butterflies.)

Converting all Dellorto s to tri jets is easy as the circuit is cast into all the bodies from factory but blanked of in all non tri jets.

I don’t think I will use the pair of Dellorto 48mm sidedrafts ive got so probably stick them up on EBay.
