Give it chance hold on the starter for a little longer first time around. Along as it’s not excessive I’m sure it’s fine.

Can take up to a minute to stay especially with hardly any choke. I now use full throttle when starting the mini

I adjust the throttle and idle air valve to many time now comes better than tge past but means tge rpm should comes high at the first

What you want to do is try using full throttle, as the engine starts to run on the fuel lift off the throttle, I usually let the engine revs reach 1500 under full throttle then snap off the throttle and allow engine to idle at 1000.

With practice it is easy to get the choke set correctly so the car starts and settled at 1000 rpm

It's an MPi, and not necessary to use the throttle.

It seems to be acting normally. About 1100rpm idle on a cold start.

I'm not sure what the problem is?

Ah, my bad! I couldn't view the video ? however the idle speed does sound ok, it should then come down to approx 900 as it warms up

Turn the key and hold until the car starts if you release the key before it starts you are causing any idle issues by leaving unburnt fuel. It can take 2-3 seconds sometimes particularly when cold.

And what happens if you hold the key in the start position?

I'm confused. In the video it appears that the engine turns over briefly but doesn't catch. As if the key is not being held in the start position for long enough.

Just because it doesn't start on the first turn of the engine doesn't mean there's anything wrong.

Does your friend have a Mini MPi?

About 1100rpm on a cold start. Then about 800 - 900rpm when warm. Approximately.

A slightly weak battery or past their best spark plugs or HT leads could possibly make her turn over a bit more before starting.

But I don't think you actually have a problem as such.
