Hi all thanks in advance,

I drive a 1996 spi sprite, I’ve noticed that the odd time after starting my car up and reving the accelerator the car lags and sounds as if it’s about to cut out but then the revs pick up normally (it never fully seems to cut out)

It usually only happens after starting off and in lower gears. For example if I get out onto a straight and I put the foot down, it seems to lag before the power catches up. Brought it through the nct in Ireland (mot) and no issues emissions are fine etc and I’ve had a stage 1 kit fitted with a decat pipe.

Any help or tips appreciated think it could be vacuum lines but not 100%.

Vac lines are always good to check. Check everything is right and tight with the sensors going into the air box too. Has it got fresh fuel in it?

As said above check vac lines first. If there original check the elbows for cracks, if there not original check them for tightness. Does your stage one kit include any mods to the air filter?

1. If given, replace the vac lines with Samco silicon hoses. They last for years without any problems of elbows because you just put the silicon hose on to the nipples.

2. Check the gasoline trap if it is tight.

3. Check the....see picture -......if it is correctly fixed

4. Check fuel pressure

5. Check fuel filter which should be free to let enough gas flow through it in cas of acceleration.
