So I ripped out the old hi lo coil spring suspension and replaced with Rimspeed Hi Los, red dot rubber cones and Gaz adjustables all round. Adjustable camber and castor bars in the front and some KAD rear toe/ camber brackets on the rear. Set front at 1 degree toe out, 1.5 degree negative camber and a smidge over 5 degrees castor and the back at 1 degree camber and 1 degree toe in. Turns in absolutely brilliantly and now have a lot of confidence in the rear. Thinking about changing castor to 4 degrees as it is slightly heavier to steer. Red dots seem a bit hard on the back and might go to standard cones. Car set at standard height. I have some Cooper vented front discs and KAD rear discs on order along with alloy front hubs and drive flanges and some alloy rear swing arms as well. Apart from alloy top arms at the front that is about as far as I can go with suspension. My mini is a every day driver during the week and production class racer on weekends. Regards Waz

you dont need discs on the rear. the amount of braking on the rear that is needed is next to zero.

The rear brakes on a Mini do no more than 20% of the total braking. Thus not only are discs not needed, they may not work as well as drums due to never getting to best operating temperature. The handbrake may also not work well either, so no handbrake turns  ;D .

Still, some retailers do try to make profit from selling unnecessary modifications. Sellers of snake-oil!

Mini Sport Oz had them $740 cheaper than another snake oil salesman so I couldn't resist. Besides it helps with the diet. Seriously on every track day I take a bit of lining out of the rear brake shoes and have to adjust them to get a bit of pedal back for the drive home.
