i started to build the system for my mini

as of right now, I have a kenwood deck, jbl 2ch amp for the front speakers, and a jbl gto mono block amp for the subs, and a pair of jbl gto 6.5 2ohm 2 way comps speakers for the fronts, and a pair of mtx thunder 5000 8's svc 4 ohm

my front amp puts out [email protected], and the sub amp puts out [email protected]

I have a roll cage in my car, and my standard dash rail has been cut out, but I have a roll cage dash bar, that my steering column it mounted to, and my seats have been moved back as far to the rear as I can get them, my dash rail sticks out around 3 inches or so more then the stock location,

so I wanted to build some boxes for my front speakers

I mounted my front amp but im not sure if I like the location of it, and I was thinking about buying some of those mini amps that are on the market now

this picture I started out with a plate cut out of how I wanted the speakers to lay out, made out of 3/4 inch mdf

I cut down the size of the box alittle bit, it fit nice on the left side but I forgot about the throttle pedal on the right side

test fit of the speakers into the box, I used a speaker wire with a few different wires in one loom, and I mounted the crossovers outside of the box

I used two bolts to hold the speaker box to the inner wheel wells

the right side, I have good space for my foot to the throttle pedal and I can see check fuses, thats a honda fuse box

testing before putting the deck into its mount location

I made the mount out of some 3/16 plate, that I machined the opening of the deck into the plate with a manual milling machine and then welded it to the roll cage dash bar and I welded in some 1/8 inch thick metal from the bottom of the face plate to act as a support for the rear of the radio

I had to eq some of the mids out of the speakers because they were really mid heavy, I still have more adjustments to be made

Looks like a cracking build, will be interesting to see how that dashboard turns out and those hidden (ish) kick panel speaker pods look brilliant.

Hi,

I've got the Alpine digital amps in another car and they sound really good.

Small light and powerful...

Cheers  :proud:

the car is pretty much a 2 seater only, the front seats are all the way back to the seat area, no leg room

today I spent some time on a science project for one of my kids

our goal is to make the sound of a phone louder without any type of power amp

I plan to home build a horn, and I have a few pro audio horns laying around and when we are done building, we plan to db test each horn to see what set up is the loudest

the 1st set up I made an adapter for is a JBL 2 inch horn lens

the 2nd horn is something ive had for a few years, when I got it, I was told it was a fiberglass altec horn lens, it has no markings on it, but I had the phone camber bigger, trying to see if it made it louder to the ear....for now

That horn looks mega. Would the amps mount under the front or rear seats? I’ve got mine mounted under the rear parcel shelf.

im in the process of building a small sealed box to hold two 8 inch subwoofers, and getting that set up installed into the mini, I wont post any pictures of the location where the box is going into the car at until its done, I should have it done in the next day or so

and im also building a new box for my daily ride, honda element with a single tc sounds tc7 10 inch, its getting a 2 cube slot ported huge box, off of 1500wrms

im in the process of trying to buy another jbl amp, heres the link to it, $60 USD, this is going into the jbl, im trying to pick it up tomorrow, but im waiting for the person to text me back

https://tucson.craig...6765676488.html

heres the amp dyno test that was done on the amp, it puts out around 750watts, rated at 500watts, two 8's should be driven pretty nice off the power this amp makes, i'll have to turn down the gain a lot on this bad boy
