Presuming you are talking about the louvres and not the zinc as niklouse says, why not? It's his/her car, should look good if the colour is right, a nice bright red would bring them out perfectly, a load more in the bonnet would also look good and help with under bonnet cooling. As with a lot of mods it's a personal thing hence why you can buy so many different after market parts for minis, my personal favourite mod is a minisprint conversion but loads of people would run around in circles waving there arms around just at the mention of such a thing.

There might be a safety issue. It is possible that exhaust fumes could get into the boot and because the boot is not fully isolated from the cabin cause monoxide poisoning.
If doing this it would be wise to seal off all the gaps in the cabin to boot including the holes in the back shelf, the big hole in the seat back and the gap up each side of the seat back panel.
I recall a car which had a split boot seal having an ingress of exhaust fumes.
