Hello there

Busy with a rebuild of a gearbox and one the boxes i am rebuilding has a leak from the bell crank pivot pin. So i want to teplace the o ring but i have never removed the pin before and it seems to be pressed in. Any suggestions or experience on how to push this part out so i can clean replace and re install!!

Thanks

I usually screw the nut back on to protect the threads and use a block of wood and large hammer to tap it down and out. The gearbox gasket sets typically don't come with the o-ring you will find around the bottom part so I reuse the one that comes out and give it a good smear of RTV. The fit is so tight that they rarely leak after that. Check and make sure the case isn't cracked in that area though.

I press them out to keep them nice and square and likewise to refit as they need to be tight in the case - that's all that keeps them there, though I've never tried tapping them out as big john has suggested.

I also well support the case around them when pressing them as that first 'crack' can take a bit of force, most of these have been there a long while! I fit a deep socket over the Pin and land it in the base of the Pin to press them.

As big john also mentioned, the O Rings aren't supplied in the kits but are available as a separate part.

I fit them back with some Loctite, not just to help hold them but also to help with the sealing of them.
