Hi chaps I’m about to start chopping out panels and need advice on bracing up
My plans are to remove the whole boot floor inc rear bench seat, both complete rear quarters, subframe mounting panel and 2 door steps and outer sills, obviously this will be fine in stages maybe with the rear quarter panels firstly, I have a spit to put it on but I’m thinking maybe get the big panels in first before I put it on what do you think ?
If anyone can tell me an order to do it that would be brill

Brace the car first with it level and not on the spit.

I brace across both door apertures then across the width of the car. Tie that all in. I then add another brace across the width of the car with drop downs to the floor crossmember and weld to that as well. You can add a few diagonals as well just to keep things tidy.

The whole boot floor i replace with the car on axle stands supported under the rear heelboard. I do add a brace across the top of the shock struts as well. That is the first job.

If you have a look at the Project Paddy link in my signature you will see everything you have described in there and the steps i went through to do all of it.

Just read you’re whole thread great work mate looks brilliant and had really inspired me to crack on, im Still a little unsure where to start ?
I’m thinking complete boot floor then subframe heel board
Try to do them 2 panels togeather then work my way forward with the 2 complete rear quarter panels what do you think ?

Sounds good to me, that's pretty much the route i went although i did the complete rear panel from the window down so the whole back end was done.

Think of where you need access and go from there. if you have to do the inner sills then whip out the companion bins as this will give you more access. Also with the rear quarters off this will help access to do the heelboard.

I've got all this to come too. I'd be interested in seeing how you get on.
