I wouldn't have sold my 1973 Porsche Carrera 2.7 RST for £20k in 2006. They are now selling for around £400,000. If only!!

I would also have kept a few Minis I have owned, such as a 1980 Pick-Up and a 1961 Mini Van.

Ouch on the RST!!!

I mis-typed there. I sold it for £20k in 1996 and put the money into a huge old farm house. It was quite funny as I kept the two Minis and sold the Rolls-Royce (my wife's I hasten to add - horrible, nasty car) and the 911 RST,

Hey ho, it's only money!

One of the funniest thing was when I took my grandson to a classic car show in Luton a few years ago. We went in the Cooper 'S' rally car and parked next to a dark blue Ford V8 Pilot. I mentioned to my grandson that my first car was a V8 Pilot and that I sold it after a friend borrowed it and ran out of water which caused the engine to seize (would have been easy to fix) I got £2/10s (that's £2-50) for it. We chatted to the owner of the Pilot and he said it was valued at £13,000. Ah, the V8 Pilot. Big heavy car which would do 90 mph and had hydraulic drum brakes on the front and rod-actuated mechanical brakes on the back - bloody frightening! Still, I learned to look a long way down the road when driving and, unlike modern drivers, I still do.

Stuck with the plan of putting a new front end on. Nearly finished the boot and cabin floor now. Back to square 1

I would have taken someone with me when viewing the van I bought so they could have brought me to my senses and told me not to ignore the problems with it and the seller just because it was the same colour as a pickup I used to own.

Wouldn't have sold a Mk2 Mexico for £600 or my mini pickup for £300!!!!! Must admit I'm loving owning a mini again and being able to afford to do most of the things I want to do to it!!

Defo would have kept my MK2 RS2000, plus bought the two Mk1's i had the chance to get for £1k each. A steel bubble arched one (rotten by fixable) and #10 off the production line. A then barn find in 1993.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Yes, 20/20 hindsight is wonderful!

I also wish I still had the 1963 Lotus-Cortina which I bought to be built into a rally car in 1966. It was bought for £450 and still had the A=frame rear suspension which we removed and fitted 'GT-type' export rear leaf springs.

One other car I wish I still had would be the 1973 Capri 3000GXL which I bought direct from Ford in 1974 when my son was a few months old. In its day it was a very quick car and very reliable. As a long distance fast motorway car it was great. Eventually I sold it and bought an 18-month-old Jaguar XJ6 4.2 Auto.

I'd love a mk1 capri. I'd whack an LS3 in it.

I should've kept the `64 cooper S and sold it to pay off the endowment shortfall- which I took on at the same time!

oh and put the reg plate from it "5753 LV" on my wifes car

I wouldn't have lowered it so much on the rear so that when I picked up a "biggish" girl on a first date in the Mini she made the rear arches rub so much on the tyres that they started smoking, then had to make her get out after just half a mile of driving. Didnt go down well, she then had to go back in my mates fiesta for the rest of the drive (first date ruined) although she did find it funny and the relationship lasted a whole 6months!

I'd have learned some more mechanics so I could have done more of the work myself.
