It's coolant. I hope to goodness it's just a hose...

OK, discovered the leak. It's absolutely p**sing out of a brand new heater valve I fitted a week ago. Today was the car's first outingsince I did it. It's one of the inline heater valves, fixed directly to the hoses. The fluid is pouring out, in a thin stream. I'm pretty hacked off that a brand new part can be so defective. I'll be taking it back for a refund.

They’re all rubbish these days. I replaced mine with a DSN take off one. It remains open all the time but that doesn’t really affect anything.

I thought the puddle was a bit too much for the cat, but it could have been the postman.

Here's the incriminated part. As you can see it's brand new...

The quality of some of these parts is shocking. I had a solenoid last about 3 days and numerous other failures.

I replaced my inline valve with a standard plumbing 28mm inline valve. The one with a screwdriver slot on top. No problem now.

I'm very interested to know how that works. Can you control it from the cabin? Would you mind posting some photos? Thanks!

Send it back for a refund then get the plastic joining pipes to join where the valve would be

The valve itself is shared with a few Rovers, just with different brackets. You may be able to find a NOS one, then swap it onto your bracket.

I believe the old VW Golf inline coolant heater valve works well and is cheap too.
