Also I dont think you can ditch the cat with an engine "retro swap"

Mighty car mods arent that big experts to be honest.
Their lack of engine breathing on that supercharged mini brought a tear to my eye.

Yes but Haltech are, you can see the improvements made from standard in the builds

Its a Jap car, hence the SPI for the age.
 
The SC kit looks really really good, but its a bit pricy for me. 
 
Are there any other options for the reprogrammable ECU?

Specialist components do a stand alone ECU for the SPI, however as you have a Jap import with AC? I think the ECU is unique and this may limit your options

I’m pretty sure MED do one for the JDM cars.

There was another UK based company who did a complete conversion kit, Canems. I think they also do stand alone ECUs.

Though, what the OP has managed to do here I think is pretty marvelous. Maybe give him a little time to further develop this in to something he can offer?
