working on a 98 JDM mini (mpi ignition but with AC and side rad) and it has a very low idle. The previous owner said they lowered the idle in order to try and solve a belt squeal, but I want to raise it back up. Is it possible? Cheers!

I have the same model. I believe the stepper motor requires resetting with a diagnostic tool. Mine idles perfectly except when the aircon switches on and then it is as rough as guts. I have played with the throttle cable adjustment and it works temporarily until the engine is switched off and the stepper resets itself to provide an 850rpm as currently set in the ECU. I'm waiting on an SC Plug and Plat ECU where I can set my idle from a laptop. Not many scan tools over here in Oz so rather than stump up the cost of a scan tool Im putting it towards the ECU purchase. Good Luck

Idle should be around 850, how low is yours running?
Idle is controlled by the ECU and is adjusted by timing and air bypass controlled by the stepper motor. Stepper motor idle setting set using diagnostic kit(Testbook, T4, Crypton ACT Sykes Pickavant ACR etc)
