I seem to have misplaced the fuel tank from my SPi, before I start shopping, are all injection ones the same?

They are the same in fitment but the mpi pump is different. The mpi flows more I think. I only know this because it is common to fit the mpi for turbo use. You need to keep the fuel pressure 4psi above boost pressure and the spi pump is only good for 10psi of boost I tjink. Can't remember off the top of my head. The pumps can be swapped out for other ones though.

The mpi tank is foam filled, and has a lower profile filler spout but interchangeable apart from that, the spi has a pump that internally regulates to approx 1 bar, so as said only good for about 10-12psi boost but you can swap that out. The mpi pump is a generic injection one, so can make 60 psi+ so you need a fuel reg at the engine.

Nope it’s the regulator in the SPi throttle body that regulates to 1bar, tank pump in an SPi can do about 3bar

So back to the OP question ... is an MPi tank identical to an SPi tank?

 

I'm considering swapping the injection on my JDM Cooper over to MPi (from SPi) and running it on an MPi ecu, I'm starting my investigations as to what might be involved.

I managed to get an SPi one cheap in the end, so I didn’t need to check.

Change the internal pump to the MPI or aftermarket one (Walbro) that is all you need to do.
