That is fascinating - thanks for posting it.
I have a great interest in WW2 history, maybe because I was born 20 miles from central London during the Blitz in 1940.

The tunnels around Dover are worth a look
I used to explore them when I was a teen in the 80's , before they were opened up
miles of them & a large fortress as well , the Drop Reboubt & the Citadel
amazing to think what is under our feet
edit - we went thru a lot of the Dover tunnels , even past blockages etc , strangely never see a rat or mouse
a couple of bird nests in the firing slots , but no rodents - I guess there was no food for them to eat
