I bought mine new in May 1989 and had it ever since, albeit having it registered in my brothers name for him to use/register whilst I moved abroad.
In it's original form, mine was 89 Flame Red in colour, the interior was grey i.e. grey three spoke steering wheel (with 'MINI' logo on centre), grey seats, carpet, seat belts, door/rear cards, interior door handles/winder/door lever, lock surround, top/bottom dash rails, rear shelf and grey plastic two clock fascia. Headlining was white and dash shelf had black card against the bulkhead.
Exterior was as follows light blue stripe (decal), with three dots at the start and rear, running from the front on the drivers door to the rear. this was sited on the flat part of the door just below the glass and between the front and rear 'vertical' seams. On the rear panels above the rear wheels and below the blue stripe decal was the 'City' decal. There was also a 'City' decal on the boot. The side decals can be just seen in the brochure some1158 has posted. The City is the one on the right and decals are available from Minispares.

As some1158 has rightly said, the grill, bumpers, wheel arch extensions, wipers, mirror surround, gutter/bottom trim, door and boot handles were also all grey. Although I think that if the car was bought in black, all these items were also black.
Badge wise, my bonnet has a silver backed shield with black surround and vertical/horizontal and MINI across the top. Similar design to this:

and the boot just had a plastic, chrome painted, 'MINI' badge below the handle. It had 12x4.5 steel wheels and the hub cap/covering was fitted over the centre of the wheel covering the wheel nuts but leaving exposed the slots in the steel wheels (again, as seen in the brochure). The grill also had 'Mini' on it.
This is a 89/90 model and apart from the 'City' decals having been changed for 'Merry Hill Mini', it looks identical to how mine was in it's original state. https://www.classicc...-june-2009-7927
As mentioned by others, there is no sign of it being an 'e' except on the V5.
I hope this helps and good luck in your restoration.
