What are you basing that on? I am struggling to see a good panel

It was said in jest. I don't know the sarcasm emoji.

I dont belive it sold for £970 ouch
Genuine MK3's are the new Mk1's it appears?
Certainly fewer of them around.

I love a Mk3. People think I'm mad for favouring them over the Mk1&2's but there's something about the clean lines and the 10" wheels (no arch extensions) that sits perfectly between the early and late models. That's why my MPI will end up as Mk3 homage.

A mock Mk3
You can stick a bunch of feathers in a dogs bottom -but it doesn't make it a duck.
Buy a REAL mk3 instead

Each to their own! I have my reasons (I like MPI's as they're what I had when I was young, and if I'm not using it regularly it's more likely to start and behave!). It won't be a replica - just a late model MPI on 10" wheels with no arch extensions. Oh, and mk2/3 rear lights and front indicators. I have some long road trips planned and I like the combination of older looks and more modern running gear.
Would be boring if we all liked the same thing eh?

No, it must be a REAL Mk3 -Befehl ist Befehl
To be honest my (painfully slow rebuild) Mk3 isn't 100% original -electric ignition, alternator, late 80's based loom, servo assisted discs, central locking, & lots of modern touches that hopefully will make it slightly more reliable & able to cope with modern day driving conditions.... changes that could get me stoned to death by the purists

I've done the purist thing before with other cars, but I find it quite tiresome now. And as I'm building this car for me, to be used (and never to be sold) - I'm doing exactly what I want!
I was almost stoned by the VW crowd for having "too modern" tyres on my otherwise standard and pristine Mk1 GTI.
