hi folks,

so, given that there is an extension to be built onto the house exactly where my current garage is its now time to think about a new garage

made the mistake of not building the last one even close to big enough so i'm going to do this one once and just do it right!

space for the garage isn't an issue(neglect any planning permission issues for the sake of argument too)

plan is to have a mezzanine floor at one end so there will be a man cave up top and i guess a handful of mini's underneath so probably going to be at least 40ftx60ft if not bigger!

so, cost? Material? steel cladding? steel cladding down to a concrete wall? all concrete?

any input greatly accepted!

Option 1 -Lightweight steel frame with rigid insulation on the outer face, brick tie to frame - cavity - with Brick wall to external facade.

Option 2- Probably the cheapest option is block work internally / cavity insulation / Brickwork  externally.

Concrete construction would be the most costly option

Just be careful with metal buildings, I have an (un-insulated) metal roof on my garage and the condensation is not good to say the least.
