Was a wicked day and I’d recommend to come get Involved this year. Great atmosphere and some serious minis ?

I'd love to go for a run up the strip one day just for the experience and the hell of it. This looks way too competitive for the kind of performance my car is capable of though! I might just come along and watch :)

Wasn’t competitive. Everyone got together and chatted whilst we qued. There’s different classes covering different engines too. Be great to see you there

been years since i have been to the Pod, good crack. Shakespeare raceway was also fun and i started a fun Mini Beetle event at York. cars were always under geared and i would be at max revs way before the finish line. need to change the final drive and may be the gear box. but starting in second meant less gear changes.

i wonder what ever happened to Slingshot racing?

Minis vs Beetles at York was always a blast.

it took some organizing as it was really Pre internet  but it was middle pages in the first issue of Mini Mag.

We were supposed to be racing the buggy at one of them ..... maybe 6 years ago but we were leaving Glasgow in the early hours of the morning to drive down overnight and a bearing seized on the trailer and ripped one of the wheels off. (It actually passed us on the M8 )

There was a tragic fatality after that at York ... young chap driving a mk1 Cortina and IIRC his mum and dad were at the track.
It was the turning point for me and my lads .... we never raced again and boys now have their own very successful businesses and 6 kids under age 7 between them so won’t ever go back.

Days gone by.

It's a shame Shakespeare Raceway died. Was very local to me at the time.

We’ve been thinking of trying to get a mini vs beetle thing going again, still be interesting to see and was along time ago. Were looking to make some contacts this year in the beetle world
