A friend of mine who lives 'oop North asked me to collect a cylinder head casting which he had just bought & paid for from a guy fairly local to me.

I duly collected it and was amazed to find it to be a brand new and unused 12G295 head. I never thought I would ever see a new one again. It just needs valves and springs.

I don't know how much he paid for it, but I bet it wasn't cheap.

So such items can still turn up.

How about this one in Italy?  https://www.ebay.co....b-a9M:rk:2:pf:0

In answer to the above.  They were fitted to Mk1 and 2 998 Coopers, MG 1100 and some MG Midgets and Innocentis.  I think that is all?

Matt Read at Read Speed had quite a few new but bare castings he sold off only about a year or so ago. If I recall, he was asking $700 AUD.

They were also fitted to the 1100 series Automatics. Best I once worked out, they finished fitting them in the factory about 1976.

I bought one in 2011 from my local mini centre new old stock, I was equally amazed to see one. I paid £60 for it!

I had one in the 80s but didn't need it as I had a 1310. Wish I had kept it.

How much would a new, unused, bare 295 head be worth? I have one in the garage, I kept as a spare when I was competing in the F1000 rally championship in 2004.
