I've gone for Delphi ones, infact I've got Delphi ball joints, Track rod ends, knuckle joints, brake hoses and wheel cylinders

Would you have some part numbers for those by any chance?

Sure.

Front brake hoses - LH5148
Rear brake hoses - LH5146
Knuckle Joints - TC30
Ball Joints - TD229W
Track rod ends - TA907
Rear wheel cylinders - LW11396

All looks to be of good quality, as expected, and I think I paid around £150 for a full set for my car, from a local motor factors.

Hope that helps!
Cam.

Going back prior to 2000 and the end of production, Unipart while hived off a few years earlier, were the OEM arm of BMC / Leyland / Rover.

It was 2 or 3 years prior to end of production, Rover asked Unipart for a 10 year projection for spares for the Mini. Just what they did actually choose to have made I don't know, but what ever it was that Rover asked for, Unipart did provide. Then when it came to warehousing and distribution, that went out to Tender, while Unipart did submit an offer, it was actually Caterpillar who won that contract. Caterpillar set up a stand alone company, X-parts, to handle this business.

In regards to some parts, Unipart  it would seem were fairly spot on with their projection.

It's a pity but also understandable that much of the tooling or sub-contract suppliers weren't retained.

I do hope that you are inscribing your wealth of information in a definitive "David Vizard" type book, for future generations of classic Mini enthusiasts.

Thanks for the replies, and to Cam for the part numbers for the Delphi components.

Will go for some of those.

I've used Genuine Minispares ones without any problems.
https://www.minispar...c/GSJ166MS.aspx
This warning from them and information is worth noting

"Genuine Minispares approved joints that we have supplied since 2004-

Beware of spurious products on the market as these are a safety critical part.

BEWARE OF CURRENT SO CALLED GENUINE ITEMS AS THEY ARE NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE.

Genuine Xparts used our same kit but with different top locktabs that held the metal brake pipes on non disc brake models pre 1984.

Early production cars and kits pre 1984 never used these loctabs anyway!

Unipart also supplied these during their last years as GSV1152 but with 2 later type locktabs for brake pipes. Sold individually per hub set.

The Mini is the classic front wheel drive, heavy engine unit in the front car that really abuses the front suspension and the entire load is transmitted through the top and bottom ball joints. They do wear and should be inspected when you're working on the CVs or wheel bearings; when you detect slop, replace them. This kit includes one upper and one lower ball joint, locktabs, some shims, nuts, washers, Everything except grease nipples LN10051. Only 2 of each of the 3 sized shims are included in the set, extras are available as part number 2A4242."
