After owning my 1998 MPI named Ginge now for about 18 months & my first Mini 've for about 26 years,I thought it was time I got to know it better, fix some oil leaks & freshen up the engine bay.

Heres how I've been getting on.

Great work looks good under there. Look forward to more updates. I want to do my spi bay eventually but looks very busy compared to a carb mini.

Yes the engine bay is solid requires a little repair & sorting out the rust on the bulkhead. Then a full repaint of the engine bay before the engine goes back in.

I can recomend the sound bulkhead foam from Minispares:

I also have the small square foam cut out that goes behind the fuel pipes on the bulkhead if you want one..?

Started to strip the engine apart to check the condition inside. Nice & clen inside.

I don't have an engine stand so I used a couple of planks of wood & made my own!

I decided to give the head bit of a clean up, so I thought i'd give it a grit blast. The results are amazing!

I covered all the holes up with gaffer tape & was carefull.

Bit of an update. Been busy cleaning the engine & buying parts!

Decided the pressure wash the engine block, gave it a good dry out & then oiled the bores & oil ways etc.

Then gave the block a coat of High temperature Volcanic paint to match the car that I had mixed up. Well pleased with  the results so far!

I've decided to give Ginge a little more power. I had this little package arrive. The parts look great.

So i decided on a Swiftune cam & adjustable duplex chain kit.

Also I bought a used ported & big vlave head, also a mainiflow exhaust to help the gases escape a little quicker.
