Hi all I’m currently replacing the flitch panel, the panel with the fresh air vent in, I’ve cut it all out and it’s fitted up ok, I’ll obviously seem weld it on the cut edge around the airvent bit, and I’ll spot weld it to the door stiffener bit, my question is do I drill the thicker door stiffener and spot weld through to the new panel or vice verser ? ? hope this makes sense!!!

Weld the new panel to the car. Weld the new panel to the stiffener. We also stitch weld the A panel to the flitch once it's welded to the wing end.

Personally I plate the fresh air vent holes up as every mini I have worked on has had significant rot around this area.

Yes, I also advise removing the fresh air intakes and plating the holes to remove a rot spot from the car, I know most will say dont, but if I need air I open windows.

Hope this helps,

If you need any more advice don't hesitate to post here ?

Regards

Rot only happens around that area if its not suitably protected and cleaned on a regular basis.

Thank you really appreciated, I must admit I’m going for 100 percent originality so if the vents are meant to be they’ll stay I’m afraid ? but thank you for the advice I really do appreciate it
