I am fitting a new front loom as I had it in my garage and the one in the car is knackered. the car is a 1980 Clubman Pickup with triple gauge dash the problem  I have is that the new loom is for a car with solenoid fitted to the starter motor and the car is fitted with a seperate solanoid, question can i fit a starter motor with attached solenoid to my car and if so which?

If you’ve got the solenoid on the wing and an intertia starter motor then the ring gear won’t be compatible with the Pre engaged (solenoid on the top of the start motor) type.

You could move the solenoid off the inner flitch to the front with the starter motor, just make sure it's mounted well
