Hi,

I’m after an MPI rear seat upright, I’m not overly fussed about fabric condition nor type. I’m more interested in the frame itself. For this reason it has to be MPI, rather than the type found in other saloons. I’m more than happy to purchase a complete rear seat if needs must but as mentioned I’m mostly interested in the seat upright rather than the lower cushion. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers

The seat upright has a different frame to allow for seat belt anchorages on c pillars, so a conventional rear seat upright won’t fit in an MPI shell or in my case an early noughties heritage re-shelled car, where they based their mk4 on shells on an MPI shell.

Yes, but unfortunately the c pillar anchorage points on an mpi are much bigger, making them a lot closer to the lip on the rear bulkhead that the seat upright hooks over. So they modified the rear seat upright to allow for it.

There's one on ebay, but it's £150 (balmoral chequed style). I had my eye on it as mine needs little work, but decided to get it fixed rather than change it.

Hi buddy,

Yeah unfortunately I got in touch with the seller and got no where. I’ll just keep hunting.

Cheers
