I have a friend who has a Mini 1000 Mayfair from 1989, and we have a problem with the vacuum advance solenoid valve.
We do not know if the solenoid valve has power and also when the car is in idle and you step on the accelerator a little, the revolutions go down for a second and then go up ( that's because it is supposed that the power of the solenoid valve is missing)
Is it normal for minis not to have power in the solenoid valve?

OK not a UK spec car. a picture of this part might be an idea so we know what it actually is.

Is it on there? I wondered if you meant 27. It screws in to the cylinder head.

ohhhhh is this a German spec car?   I think I might have an answer but need to look up some wiring diagrams. but the other port on the solenoid should attach to the carb. you may have a pipe handing free of the carb or a open brass port on the left side looking from the front.

ok I will have a look in my german infos about this tonight. it is basically a means or adjusting the timing for emissions control through a switch on the gear lever housing that activates to solenoid that reduces the vacuum advance.

I am aware of it but not one hundred percent sure on how it all works.
